How Does the Internet Work?

The Internet is basically a global network of computers network which connects various computer systems in different countries around the world. It comprises of many high-speed data transmission lines which are connected to different Internet hubs, including major Internet hubs like the World Wide Web servers and providers. The Internet network is separated into many sub-networks so as to increase its overall performance and capacity. Each network has a distinct set of protocols in order to ensure easy and reliable internet connection. The Internet also features two types of networks, namely the Public and Private. This article will talk about each and give you an insight about the Internet.

An Internet service provider (ISP) is the person who provides internet access to various users. There are basically three kinds of ISP services: Shared, Unlimited, and Dedicated. An unlimited internet is provided by shared ISP. This is because for any individual to use the service he/she will be required to share the same internet connection. An unlimited internet is provided by dedicated ISP. These ISPs provide their customers with unlimited bandwidth, however, their services are usually limited to a specific geographic location.

The Internet protocol, or IP, is a kind of digital packet used by the Internet for transmission. IP packets carry data packets which are similar to radio signals. There are basically two types of internet protocol; TCP/IP or Internet Protocol and LAN/IP or Local Area Network. The Internet protocol can be classified into two types-the Ethernet Protocol and the Frame Relay Protocol.
